Mom,

Just in case you don’t already know, I want to tell you how significant the woman you are has been in shaping the person I’ve become. You are undoubtedly one of the strongest, most devoted human beings I’ve ever known and I’m sorry for all of the moments when I may have made you feel otherwise. Sometimes I let my emotions get the best of me and I’ve definitely said things I didn’t mean on more than one occasion. I’m glad our relationship has come out on the other side of that and now we can be open with each other without any hurt feelings.

No matter what happens in the future or what has happened in the past, I’m always going to need you in my life. Especially once Joe and I start having babies. You know I won’t be able to handle that on my own.

I understand your life hasn’t turned out quite the way you imagined it would and much of that is because of the sacrifices you’ve made for your entire family, especially those you’ve made for your children. All three of us are incredibly blessed to have such a generous and compassionate mother. I’m sorry we haven’t always been aware of or appreciated that.

You and Dad are the embodiment of unconditional love and loyalty. Thank you for not just telling, but showing me what that really looks like so that I was able to identify and attempt to replicate it with my soulmate. My relationship with Joe wouldn’t be what it is without yours. I hope that one day we’ll be able to set the same example for our children.

Thank you for being everything a mother should be. All I wish for in the world is for you to be happy. I love you more than you know.

xo,

Your baby girl

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
