Up until my first day of college, I have spent my life wearing a uniform while attending a Catholic school. We were brought up learning about how much love God has for us. He loved us so much that He sent his only son to die on the cross and to save us from our sins. After being taught the same thing over and over again, one begins to question what they are being taught. By the time I got to high school, I was just about questioning everything.
It wasn’t until my junior year when I truly understood God’s love for me. Junior year was filled with an abundant of obstacles and there came a time where I felt absolutely alone. I eventually turned to God and at that moment I knew He had been there all along. I began to find my relationship with Him and became dependent on Him in every circumstance. When I began to truly love God, I began to love myself. By learning how to love myself, I learned how I deserve to be loved.
As young women, we have all encountered various types of guys. Whether these guys were in the “friend zone” or on our dating spectrum, they have all effected how we look at men.
After meeting guys through high school and my first semester of college, I began to wonder what many of them were missing. I wondered why I found myself unfulfilled or uneasy about their presence. I then realized I have known the answer all along. God is the ultimate sign of love. If a man knows God’s love, then he will be able to love me accordingly. When you question if the man you love can love you accordingly, read 1 Corinthians 13:4-8.
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” If the man you love can easily fit into all of these characteristics, then he is deserving of your love.
God knows everything about you. He knows what you are thinking, mistakes you have made, and all of your imperfections. He will love you anyways. Falling in love is an amazing feeling, especially when you can be loved equally in return. Every woman deserves to know God’s love. Every woman also deserves to be loved by a man deeply and whole heartedly.
By finding someone who knows God’s love like you do, you will be able to form a strong and true relationship. You are able to share in a love that is authentic because it is rooted in God’s everlasting love.
“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the Church and gave himself up for her.”
