Dear best friend,
It's been quite some time since we've departed high school and entered the college world. Who would have thought that we would end up 150 miles apart? I'll be honest, at first, the idea of not going to college together absolutely scared me. Not only did I worry about the state of our friendship, but I worried about how to do life without you by my side. Now, I know it's definitely possible and even good for our friendship.
I know that our friendship is strong. It's more than hanging out after school because that's gone now. It's constant texting and Snapchatting. It's Facetime calls when something happens. It's hanging out with each other on breaks. It takes effort, but it's just as much of a friendship as before.
It sucks being apart. I would have loved to see your face around campus and staying up late in the dorms, but that is not where life has led us. Instead of letting this hurt our friendship and drive a wedge, we accepted it and made the best out of the distance.
I'm so grateful to have a best friend who I can always count on, no matter the distance. You are the sweetest and most thoughtful person I have come to know. The times we hang out are just that more valuable and I'm so glad that you're doing well in college.
Having a long distance friendship is not ideal but we are both where we need to be in our lives. It does not affect the value of our friendship. Even though we do not see each other every day, I know that you are someone I can always lean on. So, thank you for that.
Love,
Your best friend
