I wanted to just start off by saying, you are successful.
I recently saw a tweet that said, "your early 20s is super weird because I know a girl who works for the UN and knows classified American secrets but I also know a dude whose middle name on facebook is 'kush.'"
I think we can all agree that we know super successful 20-year-olds and some that are not so "successful." I personally love this decade of decisions and I am excited for what's ahead. I believe in helping others achieve their dreams and making mine a reality. We hear constantly, "if your dreams don't scare you, they aren't big enough." So shoot for the stars.
College is crazy because it's essentially a big experiment. We have to live on our own, while balancing school, work, social life, etc. We are finding ourselves in ways we have never experienced, we are putting ourselves out there and taking risks and some are not. Some are all about that "Netflix & chill" life, making decisions based on whether or not they can wear sweats with no makeup and if there will be dogs or pizza. There is nothing wrong with being the risk taker or being the homebody, as long as it truly makes you happy.
I think we all need to stop comparing ourselves to others. We will never be a Kendall Jenner, Emma Watson, Bryce Harper, or the next Drake, but that is more than OK. You have something to offer the world, and so do I.
There is such a wide range in the span of 10 years; you have those who are undergrads to doctoral candidates, those living with their parents working hourly jobs, and those in their own houses with established careers. To everyone and anyone in their 20s, you are successful. No if, ands, or buts. You are successful.
Don't think for a minute the fashion blogger on Instagram is better than you, the Youtuber with 16 million subscribers is more successful, the girl in your history class with the perfect tan has her life together, or the guy at the gym with the best body hasn't struggled. We are all on our own paths living life to the fullest and that is all we are meant to do right now. These 10 years will go by fast and it is what we make of it. Do not waste your time living up to someone else's ideals and "picture perfect" lives.
So go out, follow your dream, be driven by your passions, do what you want, try new things, never settle for less, make connections, help others with their dreams, take risks, and always remember that even if you do not know "American secrets," you are successful.
