It's the time of year again when all you want to do is crawl into bed and watch Netflix in the comfort of your warm blankets and hibernate until spring. Fortunately, I've compiled a list of things to do in State College that don't require entering the frigid outdoors. Here are 8 things to do in State College in the winter:

1. Pegula Ice Arena - Public Skating

What: While Pegula Ice Arena is home to Penn State Ice Hockey and Figure Skating, it also is a popular pastime for inexperienced students, families and faculty who just want to have a good time free skating.

Where: 250 University Dr, University Park, PA 16802.

When: Changes weekly - check website for specific times.

$$$: Adults: $7.00, Youth 18 & Under: $6.00, Senior Citizens 65 & Older: $6.00, PSU Student w/ID: $5.50, 90 Minute Session: $5.00, Skate Rentals: $3.00.

2. Palmer Museum of Art

What: Located in a central location on Penn State's campus, the Palmer Museum of Art is the perfect destination for appreciating the arts on a chilly winter day.

Where: Curtin Rd, University Park, PA 16802.

When: Monday: Closed, Tuesday-Saturday: 10AM-4:30PM, Sunday: 12-4PM.

$$$: Free!


3. Bryce Jordan Center - Basketball Games/Concerts

What: As a multipurpose center, the BJC is home to the Nittany Lion basketball team, along with all of the artists and performers who visit State College.

4. Tussey Mountain

What: Under 10 miles away from Penn State's campus, Tussey Mountain ski resort and recreation is the perfect weekend getaway in the winter.

When: Monday-Friday: 12-10PM, Saturday: 9AM-10PM, Sunday: 9AM-5PM.

6. UEC Theatres 12

What: Along the Nittany Mall CATA bus route, the UEC Theatres 12 is just one of the available movie theaters at State College for a cozy night out.

Where: 125 Premiere Dr, State College, PA 16801.

7. Icy Snow
