May contains many exciting things. The exciting promise of summer (even with all of the rain), the end of a semester in college that you survived, and Mother's Day. May is filled with blooming flowers that we give to the woman who means the most to us.
Each year, we are reminded of the importance of our moms on Mother's Day. They brought us into the world using all of the strength they had and continue to care for us well past our 18th birthday. I am eternally grateful for my mom. She is funny and quirky and certainly one of a kind.
But for me, I also like to celebrate all of the women in my life who are like mothers to me. I am blessed to have 3 Grandmothers and an Aunt who have all helped me in various aspects of my life. These women in combination with my mom have supported me, cared for me, and taught me.
It takes a very special and important bond to the women in your life that ultimately teach you to be a strong and independent woman yourself. As we grow up, we learn of the times of diversity that the women in our life face, and how they handled them. It teaches us that overcoming diversity is something that is possible.
We look up to the women in our lives for advice and guidance of the trickiness that is life. They have lived through what we are going through. Some situations may evolve overtime, but are essentially fundamentally the same. Moms and Grandmas will always know what to say in the difficult times in our lives that help us feel not so alone.
These women inspire and motivate me to be the best version of myself. Having 5 amazing role models is a gift that I am so lucky to have. Unconditional love is the beauty of a mother, she will undoubtedly love you. So today, and everyday I am thankful for my mom, my Grandmas, and my Aunt.
Who I am, I owe to the beautiful women in my life.
