To all the people I have met in college, this one is for you.

As we are now about halfway through the semester, I want to give a shout out to all the people I have met and let you all know, that each and every one of you has given me a different look on life and has changed my life for the better.

To the neighbors I've become close with and who always have my back:

You guys have become some of my best friends and even though we don't always hang out - we always have each other's backs with anything. Whether I'm crying at 1 AM and need a hug, or you need to borrow my vacuum, I wouldn't want to live across the hall from anybody else because I know you've always got me and I hope you know I've always got you!

To the girls I've come to know and love:

No matter how busy we get, our text convos and swipe ups on Snapchat stories never cease to make me smile. You guys have become my homegirls no matter what and I love you guys!

To the boys who have become my brothers:

In high school I never really had guy friends because 12 years of school with the same boys, you don't even need to be friends, you already know everything about who's who. Meeting all of you guys has opened me up to where I love being around you guys and all of you have become important to my life.

To the guys who came to our fish funeral:

LOL I know, I know. A fish funeral? Yes, a fish funeral. Our first weeks at school were unfortunate as we had a fish murderer from the fourth floor kill our fish, Dog - may he rest peacefully in fish heaven. However, to the approximately 15 or 16 guys who squeezed themselves in our bathroom to attend the funeral for our fish - thank you guys for being there in the midst of the nonsense of college. (We've forgiven the fish killer.)

To all the friends I've made in my classes:

All of you make the long days of lecture and classes a little more bearable and even though we don't usually talk outside of class, y'all have made college a little easier.

To the general people I've met and learned to love:

There are so many people that I have met, whether they be from my classes and I've gotten closer to them than I have to others, or whether I've met you in a different way from some crazy other twist of fate, I've shared so many laughs with all of you and I've made memories that I'll never forget. You all have left your marks on me and I will remember the moments I've shared with you for the rest of my life.

To my other neighbors that I've grown to know:

We may not be close, I couldn't imagine walking down the hallway and waving like crazy at my friend from down the hall or always saying, "Hey _____!" and although that being our only interaction, it being so important to how welcome I feel in my hall.

I definitely haven't gotten to all of the people I have met, but chances are you are a part of my life if we've shared more than a few words back and forth. College has been a roller coaster of emotions, and love, and CRAZY times shared with all of the people I have met - you are all imprinted on my heart.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
