With summer beginning and July 4th coming up, backyard parties are (literally) comin' in hot. Follow these tips so you can throw the best one while being the best host!
1. Swimming or nah?
When inviting people, make sure to let them know if y'all are swimming or not. You don't want to be the only one in a swimsuit (or maybe you do, I don't know) when it's 100+ degrees outside. It's probably best to just make it a pool party as well. Summers, especially in Texas, are brutal.
2. What to eat.
Grillin' and BBQ is key. Burgers and hotdogs (and/or sausage) are probably easiest. Just make sure to buy any toppings imaginable. My favorite parties are the ones with a ton of creative and easy appetizers. Check out the Pinterest recipe of the Chuy's Creamy Jalapeño dip - it's sure to be a huge hit! Also, don't forget hydrating fruits, like watermelon and cantaloupe.
3. Drink up!
Lots of water of course. For those of age, think tropical drinks. Of course, beer, margaritas and more! For those younger - sodas, Capri Suns and lemonade should be perfect.
4. Need the music.
Don't forget to make a perfect outdoor playlist for the event! Make sure it's a good combo of outdoor country, fun and beauty songs! Playlist here for some ideas:
5. The perfect outfit.
Girls and boys = SHORTS ARE IDEAL. I always think it's a great idea to wear white jeans to outdoor events (cause it's so cute, blah blah), but then I always die of heat. So, risk it if you want, but shorts and a tee/tank or a dress will prove to be way less miserable.
6. Guest list?
Anyone. Just invite everyone who you know'd have a good time! It'll most likely be come and go - so I wouldn't worry about it getting too crowded. Howev, make sure to decide if you want it to be a family event, friend event or both. That way you can plan food, drinks and activities ahead.
7. Activities/Games!
Bring your favorite card games outside! Who doesn't love a game of Cards Against Humanity? Or, just think your typical fraternity "darty" and calm it down a little bit. If possible, set up a volleyball net in the pool or yard - everyone loves volleyball.
Don't forget, as the host, you're allowed to have fun at your own party!
