Freshman year is a pretty pivotal moment in basically your whole life. Don't put too much pressure on it, but for most people, it's their first time out on their own. It's definitely a slight shock, but you'll also survive it! Here are some of my tips to keep you from failing.

1. Time Management

You'll hear this in almost every FYS class ever, you'll read if everywhere, but honestly, it's so true. You have to know when to get your Homework done, when to watch Netflix, and when to hang out with your friends!!

2. Take Advantage of the Meal Plan

Yeah it kind of sucks, but someone is cooking for you so go eat it.

3. Invest in a planner

Write down when everything is due, stay on the ball and you'll be just fine.

4. Treat yo self

You are all alone, get your nails done, go shopping, retail therapy is real.

5. Hangers

You'll never have enough, I'm currently debating going to buy more right now.

6. Layers

Come winter time invest in every layer you can. Hiking in the cold is no fun. Also mittens, mittens are great.

7. Beware of cyclist

I can't stress this enough, I live in fear of being run over by them.

8. Exercise

Your freshman 15 self will thank you.

9. Athletic Clothes

You can't have enough t-shirts, shorts, and athletic leggings. Invest now.

10. Names

You can sit by people all year and not know their name, it's very sad. So ask. Be nice.

11. Study Buddies

Study buddies can turn into best friends, so don't sleep on that!!

12. Facetime

Utilize the FaceTime app, your friends from home will never be too far away.

13. ENJOY

As I close on my freshman year I am honestly sad. I'll miss my friends, my odd smelling dorm, and I only have 3 years left!! How crazy!!

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
