It’s summertime for us college students and we all know some of the best vacations are those spent basking in the sun getting a glowing tan and sipping from fresh fruitful blended drink on the beach. Beach vacations are some of the best for a relaxing break from everyday life but packing for them can be a little tough. Beach weather tends to be a little unpredictable meaning that somedays it may be blazing hot, and other days it seems to stay overcast for hours. The one good part about beach vacations is that the majority of our packing will consist of bathing suits.
This brings me to my first tip, find bathing suits you actually like and will wear! I have the horrible habit of bringing every bathing suit I own, “just in case.” The truth is, you’re only going to want to wear your favorite most comfortable and best looking suits, the rest only waste precious space in your suitcase that you do not have.
Beach vacations means flip flops! Beach communities tend to be rather casual so if you need to bring fancy heels try and limit it to one pair because they take up a lot of needed space. Bring shoes that are neutral and match with every outfit.
Don’t forget to bring bathing suit cover ups and sweatshirts for the colder mornings or days. Beach vacations are all out being comfortable. Bring one pair of sweats to throw over shorts or to sleep in on cooler evenings.
As for outfits, try and plan out entire outfits so that you’re not overpacking on random shirts and pants. If you plan out what you’re going to wear each day, it takes less time to get ready and ensures that you are only bringing the absolute minimum, and you avoid over packing.
If you are flying, consider packing in just a carry-on suitcase. This will save you money on checking bags, it will save you time when you get off the plane, and will save room in your hotel room. Make sure to remember to bring all fluids under 3 ounces if you are flying with a carry-on suitcase!
Remember to bring hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, snorkels, beach towels, beach bags, and a waterproof camera to catch all of the amazing experiences and memories you will make and have on your trip!
