Spring formal season is in full swing. As much fun as the weekend getaway will be, it can also be pretty physically taxing. You stay up late with your friends and often people are up early the next morning ready to start the partying all over again. Here's a list of a tips to help make it through this rowdy, yet fun weekend!
1. Bring good snacks. Trust me, you aren’t going to want apple flavored welch fruit snacks. Not now, not ever. If your date asks you what to get, be extremely specific. I recommend easy mac, bagel bites, and some chips and salsa.
2. Ask the front desk for bathrobes. They’re so much fun to dance in and it’s convenient for frequent trips to the pool and other various hotel excursions.
3. Make sure the alcohol you buy has a screw off cap and doesn’t involve a cork and wine opener. Using a shoe, a knife, or car key’s won’t work, I can say that from experience.
4. Advil. You need this.
5. For girls, you need shoes that you’re going to be able to walk in. It’s a long day leading up to the actual formal dance, and if you’re in six-inch heels it’s not going to be a great night.
6. Coolers. Girls get competitive about this. I know I did. Everyone slaves over these stupid plastic boxes for about two weeks leading up to the formal, but for the amount of time that is put into it, there’s nothing better than seeing your date's face light up when they see your creation.
7. Pace yourself. It’s a long weekend filled with socializing, hanging out by a pool, wining, and dining. There’s nothing worse than going a little hard in the morning and not making it past dinner. Plus, you never know whose going to try and prank you when you’re the first to fall asleep.
8. Take lots of photos and have a great time. It’s the perfect weekend getaway and it goes by pretty quickly. Enjoy the memories with your close friends and make sure to invest in a waterproof disposable camera and earplugs.
