Every semester is a new beginning and a new opportunity to do even better. Learn from your mistakes, leave them in the past, and look forward to all the new open doors you're about to stumble upon. To me there is nothing as exciting as the first week of school, seeing all your old friends and making new ones. Here are some tips to take on the new semester in it it's stride:

1. Plan-

Map things out, learn your schedule like the back of your hand, know the exact places you need to be and when, and make sure you save plenty of time to get there. Make lists and schedules for yourself if that's what works for you, definitely invest in a planner. I've made the mistakes of writing notes in any notebook I could find and I can assure you there not always that easy to re-discover when you take that approach.

2. Organize-

Start the semester strong before things get even more hectic, organize all your belongings so you'll know exactly where everything is when you need it. When you have a place for everything you'll save a lot of time, stress and energy on searching for them.

3. Get your work done-

Don't procrastinate or let things build up, try and do your work as soon as you possibly can and study all semester so you don't find yourself cramming during midterm week. When you have everything done that needs to be done, the feeling is remarkable, and you have this newfound freedom to do whatever you want rather than what you have to do.

4. Save your money-

It's so easy to overspend at the beginning of a semester and find yourself completely broke a few weeks in, don't make that mistake. I'm the first person to want to order food or buy something when I have money in my hand, but thats usually something you'll regret later on when you really need it. Make wise decisions with your money.

5. Go places-

In your free time, explore! Go visit your friends at other schools, see what the area around your school has to offer. Take in all the beauty that's around you. The world really is an amazing place, make memories, learn new things, and have fun.

Try your best, work hard, do things to make yourself happy and really make the semester in front of you amazing as it has the potential to be.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
