Every year, Valentine's Day rolls around and every year, I am left dateless. I have found plenty of ways to deal with this from movie marathons to family days, but the most fun has to be the times I’ve spent the day having a Galentine’s fest with my best friends. By doing something that made me happy and gave me joy that day was the best. Here are some tips from all of my trials and errors.
If you decide to stay in:
1. Grab your girls and pick a theme
Whether it’s Sunday brunch or a pajama and movie day, pick a theme that you and your girls are super excited for and that totally fits your personalities. By picking a theme, everyone knows what to expect and you can have fun planning a great day.
2. Decide who should bring what
Once you know your theme, you should split up what food and décor you want to bring. If everyone brings something, you’ll have plenty to keep yourself entertained and eating for the whole day. Plus, no one has to spend too much money on anything dumb or unnecessary.
If you decide to go out:
1. Decide where you want to go
Maybe you want to get all dressed up and treat yourselves to a nice dinner or maybe you want pizza and a movie. Once you decide, you and your girls will have fun getting ready to go out and treat yourselves to some much-needed bonding.
2. Pick your outfit
Whether casual or dressy, picking out a cute outfit in addition to doing your hair and makeup will put you in a much better mood and get you excited for the day. It’s even more fun if you and your girlfriends all get ready together before going out.
If you spend it with yourself:
1. Sleep in and pamper yourself
With Valentine's Day on a Sunday this year, you should sleep in and spend the day pampering yourself. Whether that be staying in bed, painting your nails or taking a long bath, Valentine's Day can be about loving yourself as well.
2. Do something you love
Because this day is now about you, you should watch something, write something, or participate in something you love. This day should be filled with calm vibes and good intentions, so don’t be afraid to spend it in bed binge-watching Netflix.
