It's that time of year again—the holiday season. This means day after day of new movies, sometimes multiple releases within a day. Most of these films are suppose to be huge deals and make billiuons at the box office. Movies like "Star Wars", "The Hateful Eight" and "Joy" are getting all of not only national and Oscar attention.
These movies deserve their hype, but the one thing that I need in my life right now is "Sisters". "Sisters" is a movie starring Tina Fey and Amy Poehler and that is all you need to know before you decide that this movie is everything and that you will do anything to see it.
It has been a while since these two queens of comedy graced us with their genius. We have seen them separately, but all we want is more Fey, Poehler action. Last time we have been this excited is "Baby Mama" and that was almost sever years ago. Seven years is definitely to long and now we just have to rewatch the commercial over and over again until December 18th, when the movie is released to theaters everywhere.
Amy and Tina know comedy and all we can do is sit around and think about how fantastic it is going to be. With a supporting cast of Ike Barinholz, Maya Rudolph, Kate Mckinnon and many other well established "funny people" it's easy to recognize that this movie will not have a weak spot. You will walk out of that theater saying "wow that was amazing." I love the movie just from the commercial, so imagine the experience you will have when you watch it.
For the people who look at this movie and say: "It's just two 40-year-old women throwing a party," to that I say how dare you. The simplest ideas make the funniest and give the most room to push boundaries and try new things. When the movie opens I will be sitting their with my popcorn and diet coke and I hope you all will be sitting next to me. Smiling, laughing and probably crying of happiness from how beautiful this piece of art is. Can't wait for the people who told me they didn't think the movie would be good to come out of theater talking about how much they loved it, so I can yell "I told you so" at them.
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are comedic geniuses. Everyone knows that, but to keep to make sure of that they have to remind us every once and a while. My tickets are already pre-purchased, you should probably buy yours.
