Timing Is Everything

Love sucks sometimes, but we do it anyway.

Timing Is Everything

Someone can come into your life when you least expect it and change your perspective on things completely. They mess up your plans, but you're somehow OK with it. You might not understand why this person has come into your life, but you appreciate that they have. And the only thing that gets in the way is timing.

One of my favorite quotes from "How I Met Your Mother" is: "If you have chemistry, you only need one other thing. Timing. But timing's a bitch."

Timing can ruin relationships, jobs, travel plans, or whatever comes your way when the timing is just not right. That if you met a year earlier or even a couple months earlier, things could have turned out differently. Better even. While I believe that everything happens for a reason, sometimes I wish I knew the reason. Why things can't work out the way you want them. That you meet the perfect guy and timing seems to get in your way. I guess you could say that's life—overcoming obstacle after obstacle. This can make you a stronger person and it can always break your heart.

But instead of being sad that it didn't work out the way you planned, be happy that it happened at all. That the time you got to spend with them was worth it, no matter how it ended. Maybe timing ruined your plans with this person. Maybe it just wasn't meant to be. As much as you want it to be. And maybe timing will work itself out and someday your paths will cross again. Whatever happens, it happened for a reason. This is life and it makes you stronger. So instead of being sad, embrace it. Sometimes life sucks, and sometimes it's amazing. Don't let the sucky parts drag you down. Deal with it. Pull yourself together, because it will be okay. No matter how much it sucks at the moment. Life has a funny way of working itself out. And who knows maybe there's an amazing guy around the corner where the timing is perfect.

One thing that I've learned from a broken heart is that you become stronger and you learn from it. I think being bitter when you come out of a relationship is one of the worst things you can do. The typical responses are "I'll never get into a relationship again," or "Love doesn't even exist." It does. Don't worry. You just haven't found the right person yet, or maybe you have and you aren't ready for each other yet. Don't be bitter. It only makes it worse from my own experience.

Everything happens for a reason.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
