The New York Times

In today's global government, with the presidential debates in the United States attempting to persuade the American public to vote, global warming and climate change have been an increasingly popular topic. However, to my surprise, very often climate change is still denied as a concern in majority of the world today.

I find it quite shocking that with all the evidence of climate change and the reality of how quickly it is happening, people still refuse to address the problem head on and realize that it is our population's responsibility to do whatever we can to save the only planet we currently have, especially considering that it has been mainly our doing. The only way that we are going to be able to have an impact on this is to talk about it, inform each other and the younger generations of what is happening and inspire one another to take part in the movement. In hopes of spreading my words, here are seven times climate change was a clear issue in the world today.

2015 was the hottest year in historical record.

In the United States, 2015 was recorded as the hottest year, for the second year in a row. Just last year, 2014 was recorded as the hottest year as well.

Desert rats become unable to digest their main food supply.

Wood rats in the Mojave Desert generally eat creosote bush which is full of toxic compounds known to cause kidney cysts and liver failure in laboratory rats. Wild wood rats, however, tolerate the poisons. However in the warmer weather, the wood rats are losing their ability to tolerate toxins in the brush, leaving them without a suitable food source.

Bolivia's second largest lake has dried up and may not be coming back.

Lake Poopó was declared evaporated in December of 2015. The lake was once over 12,000 feet high, and according to scientists a recovery may no longer be possible due to the warming of the Earth's climate.

Animals are dying faster and in larger numbers than ever before.

The birds known as common murres have been dying off for an extended period of time; however, more recently, in the Northeast Pacific, biologists and scouting teams have found close to 8,000 dead murres in Alaska and another 12,000 dead murres on beaches and in the open water of the Prince William Sound.

Drought and heat is taking out large amounts of crops.

Droughts and heat took out a large portion of the rice, wheat, corn and other cereal crops in countries hit by extreme weather disasters in the past 50 years.

The U.S. is becoming more vulnerable to the tropical disease, Zika.

Tropical diseases that have never been seen in the United States are slowly emerging northward as climate change allows mosquitoes and ticks to survive in habits that were once unsuitable.

Flooding is breaking out across the globe.

The British Army evacuated hundreds of people from waterlogged homes last December in London as overflown rivers and heavy rainfall took over the northern parts of the city.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
