Being back on the bottom of the food chain as a freshmen last year was pressuring. I needed to show up in THE perfect first day of school outfit and mentally put on the adulting hat as I prepare to be watched by other students who are much older and more experienced than I was.

This year, as a sophomore - boy, did the impression of the first day change.

Freshmen year

6 a.m: Wake up (automatically with no alarm)

Who isn't excited for the first day of a new chapter? I'm going to stop procrastinating this year and dress nicely everyday for class.

Crop top and Lululemon leggings? Totally ready to slay freshmen year.

7 a.m: Triple check bag

Laptop? Check. Kate Spade planner? Check. Notebooks for each class? Check. Maybe just double check to see if it's all in there because we're not all Elle Woods.

8 a.m: Out the door

I live fairly close to the university, it takes me about 10 minutes to get to where I need to be. Again, class started at 8:30 and I was basically sitting in my first class with two other early birds, ready to be educated by 8:15 Scholar in the making? I think so.

9 a.m: Focus, focus, focus

Trying to navigate from one side of the campus to the other in 10 minutes is no easy task for a newbie and carrying a campus map print out is not an option.

Noon: Lunch time aka social hour

In high school, if you sat alone at lunch, you were a lonely weirdo. That principle automatically applies to college right? (Well, freshman me thought so.) Which meant I was constantly texting my friends to see who can spend time with me for one whole hour before my next class started before resuming my classroom search adventure.

2 p.m: DONE

Wow, everything is so different from high school. The freedom, the guys, the food, it's going to be a great four-year journey.

Sophomore year

Summers in college are longer than a high school summer by a month. After having lots of fun, the idea of school escaped my mind.

9 a.m.: Wake up (after five snoozes)

Well, class starts at 9:30, guess it's time to wake up.

Ten minutes to get ready, I got this.

*Ties up hair* *puts on tank top with shorts* * brushes teeth* *foundation-eyeliner-brows* *tosses everything into bag*

9:10 a.m.: Out the door

IT'S THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS, BETTER HURRY. WOULDN'T WANNA SET A BAD IMPRESSION ALREADY.

9:29:59 a.m.: Inside classroom, in a seat

A-ha! Betcha thought I couldn't make it.

10 a.m. - 2 p.m.: Seeking for AC

This summer has been incredibly humid and hot but for some reason, I decided to wear a gray tank top where it's very sensitive to moisture. I happen to be a TA this year and had to self introduce in front of about 30 students, soaked in my own filth due to the humidity. Great first impression, just fabulous.

Walking ACs that follow people around should totally be a thing.

3 p.m.: DONE.

When's the last day of the semester?

I mean, college only happens once in a lifetime right?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
