They say that time never stands still, that it is always passing us by. That Father Time marches on without even taking a pause for one moment. It’s a scary thought to think that time will never stop, that it is always slowly but surely ticking away. Let me tell you that this is a myth, don’t believe it for one second my friends.
The room is full of people, I stand as straight and still as ever. My best man, my brother, even nudged for he, along with everyone else in the room, thought that I was about to faint. No, I wasn’t going to faint, not on this day, not at this very moment in time. Though the room was full of people, I only saw one person at the other side. With each step she took, my heart failed to hit its normal beat in rhythm.
As our eyes met as she walked down the aisle towards me, many thoughts raced through my mind. People say that your life flashes before your eyes before you die, my life with her from the first day that I met her on that bridge to this very day, this moment. It all flowed through my mind and through my heart.
I remember the very day we met, I remember the moment we sparked and became friends. She may not quite remember it as well as I do; the curse of having a really good memory. She and I have shared many moments in time that as they happened, time stood still. It froze before my very eyes. It’s funny when I think about it, hard to believe that this beautiful woman actually did not like me when we first met.
As she finally reached me, I remember the very looks on her parent’s faces. The look of sadness and happiness on her mother’s face, while the look of sadness and proudness on her fathers. As we joined hand in hand together, time froze for me. There was no one in the room but her and I, we stood together, I was lost deep inside her eyes. I knew from the moment she told me on a walk that we took together long ago, when she said all she wanted was someone that she could trust and feel safe with. From that moment I wanted to be that guy, I wanted to protect her from the horrors of the world, take care of her when she was sick, and wipe the tears away from her lovely eyes because eyes like hers should never shed a single tear. I wanted to become her all in all, I wanted to give her everything this world has to offer. From the moon to the stars, I would find a way to make her smile that lovely smile that brightens up a room with ease.
As time began to unfreeze and everyone in the room reappeared, we began to take our vows together, pledging to not only our friends and family but to the world that we are one together forever.
I don’t shorten her name by any means, I can’t bring myself to shorten such a beautiful name that was given to the most beautiful woman I know. I’ll call her Kelsey till the day I draw my last and final breath. Time does stand still my friends, you only need to stop and realize it while in the moment and then forever remember it.
