Tick Tock Goes The Clock

Tick Tock Goes The Clock

I have found that each year I have aged, the faster my life passes right in front of me. Regardless of the fact that there is the same amount of time in each second, minute, year, decade, and millennium, I feel as if each time the clock rings on August 22, the date of my birth, the year has past so much quicker than the last.

By definition time is the indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present, and future regarded as a whole. However, I have found that time is simply nothing but a word with a meaning; the true definition of time I have found is still being defined as it holds various meanings to every single individual within our world. In a sense, the concept of time has changed over the years and by this I have discovered that everyone in our society chooses to spend his or her time in multiple aspects. The way we spend our time often defines the person we are.

This being said, each individual usually devotes their indefinite time to people or activities in which they find persuading and captivating. Is time really something that can be measured or is it just a concept that humans developed to keep time of each day that passes?

Time is our every moment we take every breath we breathe. Time has evolved just as technology has, and time like technology is now facing the transition between analog and digital. I have found that learning how to tell time at a during a certain era was a skill that took precision and a great understanding of how our world worked. Society did not have clocks per se, but only the sun and the moon to know when a new day began and the past day was coming to a close. Being able to tell time was something to proud of because I have determined that it was a type of accomplishment, not just reading numbers off of a digital sign.

With that being said, the skill of telling time has adapted with technology meaning that telling time really cannot be considered an efficient skill like it once used to be because society has transitioned from the very early stages of analog to the growing digital adaptations of every type of technology, including time. Furthermore, I have also found that watches are not used for telling time, they are used for materialistic appreciations. And I can even accuse myself of this treachery, we do not buy watches to tell time, we use them simply for show and there are various options from which we can choose. Do we want a big plate or rose gold? Numeric symbols or dashes? The options are endless.

Our society has given time a more technological satisfaction, meaning that when we want to know what time it is we do not look outside we look most likely at the clock hanging in the room we are in and read numbers off of the digital clock. With this being said, as our concept of time continues to evolve with our technological world will this concept of time diminish? Will our days fade into one, the sunsets and rises no longer be counted, will we live in a world where we become too digital that we lose our sense of time and all that comes with it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
