It's close to Thanksgiving. And while some people might be looking forward to the turkey, and some to the cranberry sauce, the real Thanksgiving lovers know where the excitement is at: in the pie.

Yep, the pie is the main event. And there're so many types to get excited about!

You have the classic Pumpkin, a must have stable at any Thanksgiving dinner. Then you could go with the sweet but salty Pecan, or maybe the "American Tradition" of an Apple pie. Maybe you're so into dessert, in general, you make yourself an Oreo pie complete with a cookie crust. Or maybe you decide that a tangy fruit pie is the way to go, which means Cherry, Strawberry, Blueberry, Raspberry, or the heavenly Triple Berry.

Then there's the things that go on top of pies: whipped cream, ice cream, sprinkles, more chocolate or fruit...the list is endless! These things make amazing pies even better!

No matter what pie you end up choosing (and if you're smart you'll choose more than one) you can't go wrong.

Now some of you may be saying "But wait! What if I don't like pie?!"

Well my friend, you just haven't eaten the right kind of pie yet. There are well over 100 types of pies, and that's not including tarts or flans which are both kind of middle ground desserts.

Now some other people might be complaining about making the pies. Yes, it's a lot of work. But afterward, you get to eat it! Which makes the whole process entirely worth it!

Not convinced?

Here are some ways to make your pie baking life easier:

Bake a pie with only the bottom crust. It's less work, and it's a lot easier to do in a hurry.

Pie Types for this tip: Pumpkin, Pecan, French Silk, or Sweet Potato

Make a pie that doesn't involve the oven -- saves you space when you're trying to cook 20 different things.

Pie Types for this tip: Key Lime, Oreo, and Pumpkin Chiffon (a mix between pie and cheesecake)

Get your crust frozen from the grocery store.

May seem like a cop out, but no one is going to be able to tell the difference, especially if you throw away the box.

Use the recipes on thpe back of cans of pie filling

Preposterous! No, but really those recipes are there for a reason -- to make easy delicious pie that no one can screw up. Easy as pie.

Don't have the time to mess around with a pie?

Grab one from the freezer section of the grocery store, or better yet, pick up one from Village Inn or Perkins. They promote selling pies for a reason.

Want to make more than one pie?

Easy! Make a list of which pies you want to make and what ingredients you'll need for all of them -- that way you can do those parts all at once.

Now go forth and pie! Use Pinterest to get a bunch of fun ideas and bake, bake, bake! And remember, to always save a piece for yourself.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
