Throw out your New Year resolutions -- they hardly ever work.
Throw them as far out into the last year as you can.
More times than not, they'll last a few days, if that, and you’ll soon forget every minute thing you thought of last minute to change about yourself.
Just like the resolutions we had last year, and the year before that, if we don’t fulfill this one, we will only be left with a feeling of disappointment.
We’ve all been there.
Please, don’t feel pressured to force a change that you aren’t necessarily ready for. Change takes time and dedication.
The New Year isn’t designed to be a daunting reminder of the time you started something but could never finish it. We scream, “Happy New Year,” when the ball drops, not, “Feel bad about yourself.”
Yet so many of us continue to set unrealistic goals.
Instead of devoting your New Year to a resolution, devote it to you! Without the pressure and stress of a resolution, start that diet and exercise plan when you’re ready! Stop smoking when you feel it’s the right time! Who says there’s only one specific day of the year for us to make a change? There are another 364; you don't have to wait for January to roll around to better yourself! If it's the middle of June and you find yourself finally ready, there's no better time. And if on New Year's Day you're confident that you're ready to start, go for it! Set your mind to your goals and give yourself enough time to get motivated. You can do it!
No matter what day it is, always remember that you are worth so much more than a failed resolution.
