Through The Eyes Of A Second Semester Senior

As excited as we are to get to this point, this is how it truly feels.

Class of 2017: We are halfway there. 3 months left in the place that has been our home for the past 4 years. As much as we said that we can’t wait to get out of this place, deep down we will all miss it. We will miss the familiarity of seeing the same faces in the hallway, meeting our friends after school, sitting at the same table every day at lunch. That all is about to change.

This is the time of our last everything. Our last games together cheering on the teams we have loved, last dances/proms, last time running to our cars after school to leave as soon as possible. But I know that once we come back to visit, we will be excited to be back. Excited to tell our teachers how much we are enjoying our new life at college. All the new people we are meeting. How much we struggle to get that A on our exams. We will be excited to tell those younger than us, who are in our shoes now to enjoy each and every moment.

Once we reach our senior trip, the rest of the year will fly by. All of the fun senior activities we have been waiting all year long for will finally be upon us. All year long we have been waiting for prom, graduation and so much more. It is finally here. And we will enjoy each and every moment together. Through all the tears and the laughs, we will celebrate that we have made it this far. Celebrate for what the future has in store for each and every one of us.

As the year is winding down, and the weather starts to get warmer we will slowly stop caring in school and just enjoy each and every moment we can with each other. We are meeting people this year that we wish we met freshman year and they are now our best friends. And we are wondering where they have been all this time. Senioritis may be tough, but we are getting through it together. Constantly telling the juniors now to enjoy the last year together, because soon they’ll be in our shoes.

Class of 2017: I am excited to spend these last few months together with all of you and excited to see what the future has in store for all of us.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
