Today you have graduated, tomorrow, what's next? Three thoughts that every college graduate has on graduation day:
1. Family
During graduation, every graduate is looking around for his or her's family members. As we sit in the arena, we are looking for our support group and the individuals who encouraged us through our academic journey. In the crowd, we see different versions of families, some may be our family by blood, others might be family by choice -- friends, co-workers, significant others, fraternity/sorority, church members, and the list goes on. During this time, you realize how proud you are to have these people in your life as well as thankful for each action they have done to help you along the way.
2. Work
Every graduate has the thought about work - some might be furthering their education, while others have a job lined up, or simply do not know yet. For me, my job begins Monday, and I am so thankful for that. I was very fortunate, and I am working full-time at a company that I have been with since my college journey. Others, might be beginning a whole knew career and are simply terrified about the expectations as well as there might be others who do not know what their next step is after college, and that is perfectly okay.
3. Time
Most graduates spend three to five years in college as a full-time student, and when that time comes to graduate, they simply do not know what to do with the spare time. College students do not necessarily know what spare time is -- assignments, papers, group projects, the list goes on. These things took all your time as a student, but now, as a graduate, you may be thinking what is next. Some will join organizations or begin planning out their life with someone, while others will binge watch Netflix. It comes down to truly finding a balance in work and life that brings you happiness.
In the end, each graduate had these thoughts either in preparation or during graduation. Each of these thoughts define our lives after college. As a graduate myself, I am very thankful for the people I have in my life that I call family, my workplace, and the now spare time I have to enjoy.
