March Madness is sadly over and so is the Masters. So, what are we supposed to look forward to now, fraternity brothers and sorority sisters???
Luckily for all of you, it is formal season! Just about every fraternity and sorority across the nation does a spring formal where the participating organization takes a weekend trip to a popular destination or rents out a nice bar or nightclub for the evening. Usually these events include a formal dinner where we gentleman dress up in our most dapper attire, while our beautiful female counterparts wear some of their most elegant and jaw-dropping dresses. Whether you ask that special somebody to your chapters' lake formal, or you are asked by that absolute smokeshow from the sorority you pre-gamed with last night, you are bound to have a splendid time. I think it is safe to say that just about everyone from their respective Greek communities gets filled with anticipation and excitement once spring formal season comes around.
So, for all you social chairs out their that are struggling to pick a spring formal destination or if you are just curious about some game-changing places to go, take a look at a few spots that are guaranteed great times.
Lake of the Ozarks
Being from the St. Louis metropolitan area and the heart of the Midwest, I can definitely tell you a thing or two about the Lake of the Ozarks. For most people from the St. Louis and KC areas, the Ozarks is a summertime staple for leisure and enjoyment. Even better, the lake doubles as a great place for a fraternity spring formal. Whether you book out the Lodge of the Four Season or Tan-Tar-A resort, you are destined to have a great time. Who wouldn't want to spend a weekend on the water with some of your greatest friends while sipping on some Coronas as the sunset disappears into the lake?
New Orleans
I know what you're thinking, “I am from the Midwest and have been to the Ozarks 15,000 times. I would rather go somewhere a little more exciting." I have an answer—book your spring formal in the legendary party city of New Orleans! NOLA is another pretty popular spring formal destination because of its famous Bourbon Street and the droves of historic hotels. Nightlife is definitely not lacking in the city of New Orleans and there are countless bars and clubs for your chapter to discover. Do not be afraid to make the long drive down there, because New Orleans rarely disappoints.
Kansas City
For most of us KU students, Kansas City is a place we like to call home. Kansas City is a beautiful city that can be vastly underrated to those who are not very familiar with the area. This city makes for a great place to have a spring formal. There is an abundance of nice hotels near the Country Club plaza area of the city where your chapter could post up for the weekend. There is definitely no shortage of nice restaurants to choose from for a Friday night formal dinner either. Whether you choose a steak house or maybe even some of that incredible Kansas City barbeque that we constantly crave, there will not be a struggle to find a place that everyone can enjoy. Kansas City Power Light and Westport will not disappoint those who are more interested in the local bar scene either. Kansas City has a lot more to offer then the casual outsider would think and would definitely be a great spot to host a fraternity formal.
So, there you have it. Three different spots for a fraternity formal that are sure to please. Each location has different types of entertainment that the common fraternity man and sorority woman would not have any trouble enjoying. Wherever your chapter's spring formal is held, you are going to have a great time. How can you not enjoy hanging out with approximately 160 of your best friends while enjoying a few drinks at an electrifying venue and making priceless memories you will remember for the rest of your life?
