Three Easy Ways to Transition Your Wardrobe Into Spring

Since the state of Arkansas seems to have completely skipped the entire winter season, you may feel like it is time to start the annual closet-shift towards spring and dare I even mention, summer. It doesn’t take a meteorologist to understand that it’s not quite sandals, jean shorts, and crop top season yet, however, there are three easy ways to tweak your winter clothes to create the perfect outfit for this middle season between winter and spring.

Step 1: Leather Tights Leather tights and leather pants were a go-to when it came to choosing “going-out” outfits this past fall semester. I will also admit that I did initially judge the trend, but there’s no denying how chic you can look with the perfect top and your favorite leather leggings. However, the leather leggings season along with winter is coming to a close. Don’t get me wrong wearing leather leggings isn’t yet a fashion faux pas but as we make the transition to spring it’s time to wean them out. Try alternating your leather leggings with jeans, possibly lighter washes as we near the actual spring designated months. You don’t have to hang up your black jeans just yet and dark jeans always look flattering, so keep that in mind. I am a firm believer in wearing white jeans whenever you feel like it, so if you’re feelin’ it then go for it. If you feel like branching out, wide leg and flare jeans have been seen in several spring lines and look flattering on almost everyone.

Step 2: Leather Jackets Step 1 wasn’t meant to scare you out of wearing leather altogether. I own around five leather jackets and will probably be buried in one. That’s a little dramatic, but a leather jacket is a staple in any woman’s closet. If you haven’t owned a leather jacket some point in your life have you honestly been living under a rock? Pairing a leather jacket with a pastel or floral dress is the perfect outfit for this, kinda cold kinda warm, season we’re in right now. I love the pairing of such a feminine hue of pastels and florals with such a masculine piece as a leather jacket. I would also suggest a slightly lighter color leather jacket, like an olive green or charcoal gray instead of black. Don’t get me wrong, black is still one of the chicest colors known to man. Trust me, you can almost never go wrong with the color black but, to transition out of our darker winter clothes, a lighter color would be prime. Also, since leather jackets are generally a lightweight material they would work better with the weather when you don’t need a thick jacket for warmth.

Step 3: Fur It's time to face the facts: fur season is coming to end. It is almost time to hang up your fur vests and jackets until next fall, which physically pains me to say. Furs, in general, are an essential piece for winter, which means they are the exact opposite for spring. Technically it is still winter, it's only February and there is still hope for a snow day (fingers crossed), so wearing your fur isn’t completely out of the question yet. This is more of a heads up that you need get fur fixes out of the way ASAP, or you’ll be left longing for them until next semester. Instead of choosing a fur jacket, follow Step 2 and pair your outfit with a leather jacket. Leather jackets are equally trendy as fur jackets so don’t feel as if you’re compensating to follow a particular season’s rules. The golden rule is if it looks good on you then wear it. If you’re feeling like trying something (sort of) new try pairing your outfit with a jean jacket. Jean jackets have been seen on several celebrities, such as Rihanna, so it's safe to assume it will be one of spring’s major trends. However, wearing a jean jacket can be tricky because you’re running the risk of mimicking your second-grade yearbook picture that was circa 2001. The fit and styling of a jean jacket makes a huge difference so keep that in mind while shopping.

An easy guideline to follow when thinking of how to transition from winter to spring is lighter hues and florals. There are always exceptions to these so-called fashion rules so don’t be “that guy” and feel that you are obligated to follow these to a tee. Like I said earlier, the golden rule is that if it looks on you then wear it. If feel you famous or fabulous in something, don’t hold back

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
