In the moments before you get to hold the love of your life for the first time in weeks, so many things fly through your mind. How can you feel so much in such little time? This article will list some of the things we all feel on that lovely day.
1. I'm so nervous
I couldn't be more excited, but I'm so nervous I'm shaking!
2. Is anything going to be different?
Well, it's been 13 weeks of letters only--will he still love me the same? Will our relationship be the same? Is it going to be awkward? Not natural?
3. Is he going to cry when he sees me?
We just drove onto Parris Island, and I'm already crying.
4. HOLD IT IN. DO. NOT. CRY...yet.
Okay, so I know I've cried about a bathtub of tears these last 3 months and again this morning. BUT THESE ARE HAPPY TEARS--come on I can hold it. Nope, I can't. My makeup will be running down my face before he sees me, and then we will have a wet kiss, and then I'll get it all over his uniform and...
5. I forget what it feels like to hold him.
WHATS WRONG WITH ME? I mean, it's been so long, and my body pillow doesn't quite compare. This is such a problem, oh my gosh HE NEEDS TO BE HUGGED NOW so I don't feel like this anymore.
6. Why is this guy talking for so long?
Yay tradition and yay for this person and that person. I don't really care for the personal history of his drill instructors. WILL EVERYONE SHUT UP AND DISMISS THEM? He's. Right. There. I can see him, but I still can't hold him. I CAN'T TAKE THIS ANYMORE. I feel like I'm actually going to explode. Maybe that's the three cups of coffee I had or maybe 110% nerves.
7. Do I look okay?
Of course it's raining humidity, which has ruined my hair. My lipstick might be smudged. UGH. I need to look PERFECT for him, I mean, it's the first time I've seen him in forever, and everything needs to be flawless. Then again, I could be wearing a paper bag, and he would think I was drop dead gorgeous.
8. OH MY GOSH! I'm on my way to him.
Running, running, I'm running. Everyone get out of my way. Where is he? OH MY GOSH I SEE HIM. He better be bracing himself to be jumped on. I'm so excited I'm actually about to be holding him! This all seems like a dream. This is way too good to be true. His arms are home.
9. You've hugged him along enough.
It's been 13 weeks, and I'm super selfish. You've hugged him long enough. He's said enough hellos. It's time for me to steal him. For forever. I have zero patience. I'm seriously ready to take him on a private island and avoid all other human contact. GAAAHHH.
10. PEACE. OUT. MILITARY.
You've hogged him for 13 weeks, now it's time for me to hog him. He's all mine again. Goodbye. Military. Forever (I wish). But seriously, let's get outta here.
