Every year I look forward to my family’s week vacation. Spending a while without the stresses of work, home and the real world is insanely relaxing and much needed. It seems like the summer is always go-go-go and there is so little time to spend as a family outside of our individual responsibilities. This little vacation recharges us and allows us to spend more time together than we have all summer. Here are a few things that I have thought specifically on this year’s trip.
1. No AC or Wi-Fi? This is going to be a long few days.
Being on vacation is exciting and definitely full of insta-worthy moments. But not being able to post those lovely experiences or keep in touch with your friends is annoying. What’s even more annoying is being in a house without AC on a 95 degree summer day. UGHHHH!
2. Huh, I may actually be able to deal with this no wi-fi thing.
After a few days, being without Wi-Fi becomes less annoying and more relaxing. Keeping your face out of your phone or computer screen and focusing on the people around you makes you enjoy the vacation more.
3. Ow, when did I get a sunburn?

4. OOH Pretty Sunset!
Watching the sunset over the ocean is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. On vacation you witness things you normally wouldn’t at home. Whether it’s the sunset, the ocean splashing up on the beach or certain attractions the area you’re in is famous for, it’s nice to get away from your everyday life and experience new sights and sounds.
5. OOOH Sloths!
When it comes to going to zoos, I turn into a little kid. I never realized how cute an animal could be until I saw a sloth with my own two eyes. Visiting attractions like these will jam-pack your vacation with memories and bring out the kid in you.
6. What would I be doing if I were at home right now? Oh yeah, working.
The best thing about being on vacation is the lack of work you have to do. Your responsibilities are miles away and you should be able to just enjoy yourself. This usually comes once a year or even less often so it is important to enjoy the time off you have while it lasts.
7. Ugh, we’re on vacation. Get off my back about real life stuff.
Again, vacation is a time to relax and get away from responsibilities at home. That is why I don’t want to be reminded of things I have to do when I get home. I get I have this thing to figure out with the college, or this thing to figure out at work. I don’t have any way of doing that now, so just enjoy vacation already. Gosh!
8. I kinda want to start making money again.
By the time vacation comes it is always much needed and desired. Though I may have enjoyed myself greatly, there is always a part of me that is ready to sleep in my own bed again, reunite with my friends and even go back to work. That week without making money is the hardest part for me about going on vacation, but somehow I manage.
As I am driving home from our fantastic week, looking back, there were many laughs, new experiences and stories to be told and all of the thoughts I have had this week turned out pretty positive. Summer is a time to cherish the moments spent with family, friends and experiencing new things. Whether these are all during work or on a vacation, everything can be turned into a positive experiences. This is when your responsibilities are at their lowest and you can just enjoy yourself and I can say I have done that so far this summer.
