The other day I took my 13-year-old brother to Universal Studios for the first time. He did not exactly know what to expect because this theme park has a mixture of characters and personalities.
It had been two years since I had visited, so there were some attractions that were new such as the “Furious Supercharged” and “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.” I had gone when I was younger back when they had that shark hanging upside down ready for a picture and “The Flintstone’s" carnival games. Couldn’t help but have a few things come to mind throughout the day…
1. I am digging this red carpet entrance.
After passing the metal detectors you proceed to the entrance through the main red carpet or go around the ticket booths if you wish, I (of course) strutted down that carpet.
2. I hope my little brother has fun.
He has visited Disneyland, California Adventure and Six Flags. Disney is awesome and he likes it, I didn’t know whether The Simpsons or Shrek were going to work for him.
3. I cannot leave without getting on Jurassic Park.
This ride is one of the classic ones that has remained in the park. The movie was one of their biggest films and it is an overall classic. We went there first!
4. I remember and miss the E.T. bike ride.
The Mummy Returns ride now resides where the E.T. attraction once was. I love “The Mummy” I just wished they had left E.T. However, they still sell E.T. plushies, which are cute!
5. If I lean a little back on these escalators, that’s it.
To get to the bottom and to go back up, you have to go through four sets of escalators. A lot of people ride them at the same time and they are steep. I leaned a little back and almost lost my balance. Be careful when you’re on them!
6. Studio Tour will always be my favorite.
As an entertainment lover, I find the scene sets fascinating. Many classic movies and shows were filmed in that back lot. To be able to see the set of “The Grinch,” “Bates Motel,” and “Desperate Housewives” feels great.
7. Can I be a part of the Furious family?
The new attraction in the back lot is similar to the one of “King Kong” and as a Furious fan I loved it. Only Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese and The Rock were featured in it but they made you feel part of the family.
8. $15 for burgers and fries? Souvenir cup for $16.99?
I love the themes park but I believe that they are overpriced there and at every other theme park.
9. Sigh of relief when my little brother told me he loved it and wants to go back.
He especially liked “Simpsons Land” and won a Krusty and Bart in the carnival games.
10. I love living in Los Angeles.
Universal Studios is a couple of minutes away from my home, through traffic, however it is closer to me than to most people. Some of the people in the theme park were visiting from England, Israel and many other countries. They went back to a hotel room, I went back home and I could come back the next weekend if I wanted to. Not just to the theme park or City walk but also to Hollywood, Malibu and Long Beach. If I want to see a movie premiere, I can. I can go to panels for PaleyFest and WonderCon.
There is no other place than Los Angeles.
