Thoughts On Rainbow Hair

Yes, my hair is rainbow. No, that doesn't mean I'm unprofessional.

Thoughts On Rainbow Hair

I have had rainbow hair for a while now and I still get strange looks from many people. Yes, my hair is colorful but no, that does not mean I am unprofessional. Fortunately, I work at a place where colored hair is acceptable. But in many cases, others are not so fortunate. I don't know why having a hair color that is not natural is so frowned upon. So many people dye their hair blonde, red, brown or black, and nobody bats an eye. The second my hair is purple, green and blue, I get looked at like I killed a puppy. I'm not trying to be edgy or goth or a nonconformist; I just really like pretty colors.

The way I see it is, my hair is just like any accessory I put on my body; it just happens to be attached. I can wear a shirt or jewelry or shoes with the same color and it would be no problem, but since my hair is connected to my skull, I'm seen as unprofessional. People have green and blue eyes, so why can't I have green and blue hair? Sure, I wasn't born with it, but why does that matter? People are born with pale skin and go tanning and honestly, I don't see a difference.

The fact that I like my hair different colors shouldn't affect your life. I'm not forcing you to dye your hair different colors, so why do you care about mine? I'm just trying to live my life happily with cool hair. This idea that people with rainbow hair aren't "normal" needs to stop. I just wanna live my life with my rainbow hair without getting weird or dirty looks from people. Stop rainbow hair shaming now and forever. I think rainbow hair is beautiful on everyone and we should be be living like we are at Cochella 24/7. Self-expression is an important concept and we shouldn't be shaming people for expressing themselves.

I want colored hair to be more accepted socially. Yes, celebrities are always dying their hair all different colors and people think it is brilliant. I am no celebrity and because of that, when I dye my hair rainbow, it is seen as breaking the status quo. Honestly, I would love my life to be a "High School Musical" number as much as the next person, but I want it to be anything but that cafeteria scene. The status should be broken and rainbow hair should conquer. I love my rainbow hair and I want more people to love the concept of rainbow hair, too.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
