21 Thoughts Every Las Vegas Local Has During The Summer

When most people think of summer, they think of picnics, lemonade stands, pool parties and barbeques. Living in Las Vegas is a little bit different. It's too hot to have parties outside, walk outside, and even thinking about going outside can be emotionally draining. If you've never experienced a Las Vegas summer, consider yourself extremely blessed. For some (like myself) they've never known any different- I was born and raised here and I have spent every one of my summers suffering through the insane heat. However, even the toughest of us locals will admit that the high temperatures make us want to die. Here are just a few of the thoughts that run through our mind during this horrid time of year.

1. It's so hot outside. Kill me.

2. I can literally feel the heat radiating off the pavement.

3. Seriously. It feels like we're living in a sauna from hell.

4. At least it's a dry heat.

5. If I don't drink more water I'm going to get heat stroke.

6. I would rather drink soda or iced coffee though.

7. My car AC is on full blast but I'm still sweating.

8. Look at all of these drunk tourists.

9. Why are there no shaded parking spots?

10. Let's go see a movie at *insert nearest casino* to get some free air conditioning.

11. At least I don't hit a million school zones on my way to work.

12. Yes! It's only going to be 105 degrees today!

13. Look, more drunk tourists.

14. *After spending five minutes outside* My face looks like a tomato.

17. I'm pretty sure I've sweated off like 8 pounds today.

18. Please God send rain.

19. I should try baking cookies on my dashboard.

20. I would go to Lake Mead if it wasn't so disgusting.

21. I'm definitely moving before next summer.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
