Girls tend to have a love hate relationship with the gym. We love the satisfaction we get coming from the gym, but sometimes the motivation to get to the gym is harder to find than Lily Pulitzer at Target. We have constant thoughts running through our minds while we are running.
Here are just a few of those thoughts:
1. I could go for a burger right now.
I think it's the gym gods way of torturing me before I go to the gym, but I always am craving a burger or a pretzel. Maybe even both. The worst is seeing a fast food commercial while I am at the gym.
2. I'm more excited about my workout playlist than my workout.
Sometimes, I truly believe my workout playlist is what makes me go to the gym. I am that person who gets genuinely excited to jam out to music while I am at the gym. Nothing screams motivation like a good workout playlist.
3. Oh no, there are too many people here.
I solemnly swear that there is a universal gym schedule that the majority of the population follows. It seems like everyone goes to the gym at the same time. Now, I have to deal with the sweat of humans in a confined area.
4. Oh, I can do that too.. Nope, just kidding.
Going to the gym sometimes gives me a mirage that I can do anything that others can do. I may think I can bench press the same weight as the gym buff guy or girl before me. I may even get the idea that I can hold that yoga pose too.
5. That guy keeps staring at me.
I am here to get a workout in, just like you. Let me do my thing and I will let you do yours.
6. I think he staring at my form. Am I doing this wrong?
I must be doing something wrong. I must not look like a graceful gazelle. But then again, who ever looks graceful working out? It's gotta be a myth.
7. Okay, don't trip on the treadmill.
I don't know about you, but I'm that person who will jam out to a song when they are running, hand gestures and all. There has definitely been a time or two where I have tripped while running on the treadmill because I was jamming too hard to my music. What can I say? The music just speaks to me.
8. My body is crying tears of sweat.
It's as if my pores opened up and decided to cry tears that could fill up Niagara Falls. I think I may be swimming in my own sweat. I don't get how people could feel sexy when they have sweat protruding down their face. I guess it's a skill that I haven't mastered.
9. Do I have abs yet?
I really thought that last crunch did me over and gave me that defining ab line. And no, I did not mean Crunch bar. Although, chocolate is always welcome. No? I guess I will do some more ab workouts and check again.
10. I could go for a nap right now.
I just got a notification that my body is at a 20% battery level of low. I think that means I should wrap up this workout or I may be falling asleep here.
11. Stop staring at me!
Yo homie, I am here to get a workout just like you. Can we please coexist without the intense stares? Or do we need to take this outside? Don't make my dirty look turn into words.
12. Shaved down that mile time!
Did someone say victory dance? You got it, and I will one up you with some serious arm fist pumping. Just think, if I cry tears of joy right now, people will just confuse it with sweat pouring down my face. Don't mind me.
13. I'm gonna feel that tomorrow.
I feel the burn now because I definitely dropped that squat like it was hot. However, tomorrow is the day where any sudden movement will have me in searing pains of soreness.
14. I want pizza and fruit. That's balance, right?
If I eat this piece of pizza and then cover it in pineapple, they cancel each other out, right? I am gonna tell myself that anyway. Life is all about balance.
15. I met my goal!
Nothing feels more satisfying than knowing you crushed your workout goal. You were able to overcome the struggle of getting to the gym and accomplishing your workout.
If we are being honest, I truly do enjoy going to the gym. Half the battle is just getting there. I enjoy pushing myself and overcoming challenges. It proves that I am capable mentally and physically of setting any goal that I have. On that note, looks like I'll be struggling to the gym tomorrow and daydreaming about cinnamon rolls. Definitely getting that pizza with pineapple though.
