Thoughts From The Mind Of A Summer Intern
FunnyorDie

All college students have to find an internship at some point in their college career. Its like do or die with the way our society is forming. If you don't have an internship, good luck finding a career after graduation. Once you find that golden opportunity, you become a big kid. You get the lovely pleasure of working a classic nine to five job. It's like a whole new world. Here are some thoughts that go through an interns head on the daily.

1. Ugh, it's 8 a.m. I have to be at work in an hour.

Yeah, we have classes at eight in the morning during the semester, but this is the freaking summer! I don't wanna be up right now, its too early. Maybe I can come in at like noon?

2. What the heck am I supposed to wear today?

"I already wore that...I don't want to be an outfit repeater. Oh gosh, I am going to be late if I don't pick within the next five minutes." We all have that moment. Just pick an outfit though. No one really cares.

3. Breakfast...It's still too early...

I sit down to eat breakfast every morning, and I think to myself, "Why??" It takes me a solid few hours to fully wake up. It is in your best interest to just smile and wave when you pass me.

4. Walking in to the office.

No, no, it is OK, no need to say hello to me. It's not like I have been working here all summer. You probably don't even know my name. It's fine. I'll be gone in a few months, and then in with the next interns.

5. Hell yeah! It's lunchtime!

What is my favorite part of the day you ask? Lunch of course! It is the half way point of the day which means in one hour I will only have four hours left, and then I can go home.

6. That 2 p.m. feeling...

When will this day end? I'm just gonna take a quick power nap...no one will notice! OMG, it's only two o'clock!? This is just crazy.

7. Only one more hour!!

I got this, only one hour left! This is so exciting. In exactly 60 minutes, I can clock out, and I am free! FREE!!

8. I'm off! Totally done for the day!

Ahhhhh yes! I am off for the day! Thank the lord. Wow, what a long day. I am so happy to be off. Time to go home!

9. Ah finally home!

My bed was calling my name all day. This bed definitely was not as comfortable this morning. I never want to leave this bed. Time to relax!

10. I don't want to cook, I just want to sleep.

I'm really hungry, but leaving my bed doesn't seem like a good possibility. I think I'll just stay here. Yeah, breakfast will come soon enough. Or maybe I'll just have cereal for dinner?

11. Gotta do it all again tomorrow.

Well today was a good day, but I have to do it again tomorrow? Why me?? Can I please just have a normal summer? Looking on the bright side, at least I will have a kick-ass resume.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
