I was given the opportunity to travel to Europe last summer and boy did I love it! While traveling, I was able to gain so much knowledge about the world.
Here are some of my thoughts:
Time zones blow my mind.
This part surprised me so much! It is so amazing that it can be morning where you are and night on the other side of the world. It is really something that connects us as people, at this very moment there are thousands of people that are happy, sad and every emotion all at the same time.
We all live in the same world, and share these emotions, just at all different times. The unfortunate thing about going into another time zone is jet lag. When I went to Europe my body thought it was eight hours earlier than what it actually was and I was very out of it! However, my excitement for being in another country took over my extreme tiredness.
There is a world out there.
This might sound basic, but after traveling I realized there is a big world out there for me to explore and know! While living in your own country it is easy to get used to how you do things and you think that the whole world does things the same as you. But traveling to another country helps you realize that there is so much world out there and it is really exciting!
I was also humbled to be in a different culture for three weeks. This was the first time in my life I was able to learn how other cultures did things. It was an electrifying and eye-opening experience.
Experiencing different foods.
Experiencing other foods besides the traditional ones I grew up on really opened my eyes to how special other cultures are! Don't get me wrong, I love the foods I grew up eating. However, it was so exciting eating new foods. People in Europe have an amazing passion for food! It was so fun to taste foods from different homes and restaurants!
Withdraws will happen.
One of the drawbacks of traveling the world is coming back home and having a heart to be back the place where you just had the chance to explore. Even this year I am still missing the culture and people of Europe!
That is the amazing thing about the body of Christ though! Even though we are hours and miles away it is never goodbye, it is see ya later!
I am thankful for the opportunity to travel to Europe and I am excited to travel more.
