If you've ever been to a graduation, as a student or an audience member, then you know what it's like to sit through two whole hours of boredom on an extremely unsatisfactory bleacher seat. It seems as though the infamous attention getter used by every school to start a graduation ceremony is a cliché “coming of age” speech. How creative. Unless you've been blessed enough to have selective hearing, this one's a doozy.
Then, to honor every single student for receiving the tremendous honor of finishing school, you have to listen to every single student's name get called to come up on stage. Of course, then you have to account for the time it takes for a student to walk up, smile, shake hands with five different people you don't even know, finally pick up their piece of paper, and walk back to their seat. Multiply that by the number of students in the class and that adds up to a whole lot of time spent doing something that you don't want to do. So, if you've been to a graduation ceremony whether as a student or supporter, here's a list of thoughts you can probably relate to. And if you have an upcoming ceremony to attend, here's what you have to look forward to.
