As college comes to an end there are many thoughts that run through one's mind. Thoughts such as....
1. I'm so done with this. I can’t wait to be done.
The last semester of school is so stressful because it is the end –YES! But all of the work that has to happen to get to graduation day--senior projects, finals, presentations, applying for jobs or graduate school-- can become so much that eventually you may find yourself saying, “I just can’t!”
2. “I don’t want the school to be over!”
Wait, wasn’t the last thought about being happy that graduation was approaching? It was. But as exciting as graduating is and as stressful as it can be, it means that college and the life that you have come to know are over too. Meaning: no more random late night pizza, Netflix/study at 2 a.m. with your neighbors, no more middle of the day naps after 1 p.m. class. The joy of finding out class was canceled is no more. (Work will not get cancelled). No more knowing everyone at the bar. No more $2 drink specials every Wednesday night with your best friends (Happy hour prices almost never go this low). No more living in walking distance of your best friends.
3. I’m about to be an adult. How do I become an adult?
You mean I have to wake up every day at 8 a.m. and sit at a desk all day, and then use my paycheck for rent and bills? Yep. That’s adulting. The fact that you are expected to be a responsible adult can be daunting. High school graduation gave you some responsibility, but at this point, you realize you really are on your own and that it is indeed time to "adult."
4. “I’m going to get a job! I know I will... I just have no idea.
Applying for jobs is an essential part of senior year. Now that college is officially over, the job hunt begins. Many college seniors fill out several job applications a day (trust me I have), and then constantly stare at their email and phone hoping for an interview.
5. All those old people are right! Time really does fly. I feel like I just graduated high school.
Everyone always says “time flies by.” As cliché as that phrase may be, it is incredibly true. As you see your college career coming to an end, you realize just how short it was, and how much you will miss it.
6. This could be the last time..(insert memory here).
During your last semester, you start to realize simple things such as: eating in the cafe, hanging out at the local restaurant, fraternity parties, student organization meetings, all those tables with free stuff, attending class and everything else that you became accustomed to doing at college is coming to an end. The most recent experience with something may be your last time doing it. This can make even going to the student union exciting, and even a bit emotional.
