52 Thoughts That Race Through Your Head At Graduation
Hannah Moody

This past Friday, I finally graduated. We were separated by our major, and told to get into lines. There were 12 journalism majors. We were all bored, and here are some of the thoughts that I had while going through the process of graduating with my Associates degree.

Arrival.

1. I hope I'm not late.

2. Surprise, I'm late!

3. No one is ready.

4. Why isn't anyone ready?

5. I guess I'll just play on my phone.

6. We can finally check in.

7. Am I early?

8. It said be here 30 minutes ago.

9. Why did they bring all the business admin students?

10. Why can't they get in order?

11. Now we all have to get in order.

12. There are 12 of us in my major.

13. We're all sitting down. Just the 12 of us.

14. Everyone else is still standing.

15. More play time on my phone.

16. We're walking.

17. We're running.

18. We weren't paying attention.

19. Why wear heels if you can't walk in them?

20. Stop taking off your shoes.

21. Where are my parents?

22. Why are all these parents gathered at the entrance?

23. Sit down people!

24. Why is the graduation song so long?

25. Will it ever end?

26. It ended, and we sat.

27. Now we get to listen to these speeches.

28. Now we walk.

29. I hope I don't trip.

30. I hope the girl in front of me doesn't trip.

31. I'm watching her so I'll know what to do.

32. The dude handing out diploma covers cracked a joke about my nail polish.

33. Blinding photos.

34. Should I stay or leave?

35. Guess I'll stay.

36. And play on my phone...

37. My head is starting to hurt from my cap.

38. One hour left.

39. Guess I should update my Facebook status.

40. More clapping.

41. Slightly ratchet screams.

42. Dude behind me said final grades are posted.

43. Might as well look.

44. I passed! So I did graduate!

45. Only three more rows.

46. Two...

47. LAST ROW.

48. Is it kinda rude that all these people left?

49. Clap for parents.

50. Clap for self.

51. Move the tassel.

52. Time to go to the car and go eat!

Congratulations to all the graduates of 2016. We have all worked hard, and we deserve a round of applause. Whether you choose to continue your education or you're finished for good, you did it. We have cried through finals, prayed our teachers have pity on us and hoped our GPA didn't suffer.

You did it! Go change the world! Do good!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
