6 Thoughts That Cross Your Mind Moving Back To School After A Month Away

Going back after all the holidays can be kind of hard and frustrating as a college student.

It has been a whole month since you have seen your dorm. Maybe you have been traveling, spending time with loved ones, or whatever you may have done over your winter break. It is time to go back to campus and pick up the next semester and all those textbooks. The holidays are over, and the new year has begun.

Dorm sweet dorm, home away from home.

It is scary and exciting at the same time.

You will get to see your friends again, have crazy late-night adventures, and stress over that paper that’s due in ten minutes. No matter what you are feeling, good or bad we all have the exact same thoughts as the last week dreadfully flies by. The bookstore's doors are open and ready, and hopefully, you have your schedule ready! The days can only go by faster and the tasks to do will stack up faster. Here are some other thoughts we all have while moving back:

1. Do I have all my clothes?

As generic as this sounds, it is actually a thought that crosses my mind every time I get ready to head back to campus after being at home. I know a majority of us live out of our suitcases over breaks, and as convenient as that is, it is also a pain. I almost always forget my favorite shirt or those comfy PJs no matter how far in advance I start packing.

2. I hope I beat my roommate back!

As selfish as this sounds, it is a lot easier to move back when you aren't tripping over people. I end up taking half my room back with me so when it comes time to move back from big breaks it can be tricky if the room is full of people.

3. I have way too much stuff.

Clothes, laptop, chargers, all my school supplies, backpack, food, etc. The list can go on and on. Maybe it is too much; maybe it is not enough (more than likely it is too much). Either way, you can only find out when you move back.

4. I hope I remembered to grab (insert most forgotten item), this time!

There is always that one or few items that are forgotten every single time. No matter how many to-pack lists I make, or how many times I triple check, I always forget them.

5. Do I have to pack?

I hate packing more then anything else involved with college it can be frustrating at times and can end up in a busted zipper if the bag is over packed.

6. How much am I going to spend on textbooks this semester?

As childish as it sounds I hate buying textbooks and access codes. They are overpriced and sometimes the teacher barely uses them. I miss the good ole days my first year when I only spent $450-$500.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
