When the party hosts don't check for student IDs so high schoolers can get in, a lot goes down. Here are some thoughts you have as a college student at one of those parties:

1. Why do these people look so little?

2. Oh, my god, they’re 17!

3. That’s dangerous.

4. DON’T TOUCH ANYBODY!

5. Why are they so excited?

6. You’re not at a rave, kids.

7. Stop forming mini mosh pits, they’re playing Dua Lipa.

8. Stop flash recording every moment of this.

9. Your dancing skills are so cringe.

10. Stop forming a circle around a kid doing a two-step.

11. NO ONE HERE LOOKS AS COOL AS THEY THINK THEY DO!

12. Go home, don’t do drugs.

13. I hate myself.

14. Was I ever like that?

15. Is this guy lying when he says he’s 21?

16. Don’t TOUCH me!

17. They’re so bright eyed and bushy tailed.

18. Can’t wait for college to erode their sense of excitement.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
