Though I May

"For every sad thing you think of, you should think of three happy things to chase it away." -Zoe Sugg

There are lots of things I may be. There are lots of things that can counter these "may be's" as well. Everyone has things about themselves that they're not particularly happy with. But, instead of focusing on the bad, focus on the good. Focus on the things you can do, and do well. Focusing on the negative aspects of yourself will get you nowhere. It's better to think about the positive aspects about yourself. So here are mine:

Though I may be bad at math, I'm excellent at English.

Though I may be shy, I have a great heart.

Though I may be young, I have an old soul.

Though I may get anxious a lot, I still try to stay happy.

Though I may have bad days, I still have the people that love me.

Though I may get bored easily, I'll always have books to read.

Though I may be a slow worker, I want what to take my time on what I do and have it be perfect.

Though I may think less of myself some days, the people I love think the world of me.

Though I may not always have the most money, I'd rather be happy.

Though I may think I can't, I can do anything I set my mind to.

Though I may not think I'm beautiful every day, my boyfriend thinks I am every day.

Though I may have one bad day, there are 1,000 more good days.

Though I may be a nerd, I'm happy with who I am.

Though I may fail a test, I'm still smart.

Though I may rewatch FRIENDS, it never gets old.

Though I may cry easily, it's only because I care.

Though I may have a lot of thoughts and feelings, I can always write them down.

Though my life may get tough, I can always enjoy nature.

Though I may think I have problems, mine mean nothing in the big scheme of things.

Though I may make a mistake, I'm only human.

Though I may rewatch, reread, and replay tv shows, movies, books, and video games, I always learn new things from them.

Though it may seem tough right now, I have my whole life ahead of me.

So, everytime you think of one bad thing, don't put yourself down. Think of the counter to your point. Think of another thing you know you are instead of what you may be.

Because though you may think you're not good enough, there are other people that think the opposite.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
