if"Thot" is defined by Urban Dictionary as a hoe. Now, according to certain memes, or un-written rules, you can become a thot in various ways.

One way to be a thot is by using the dog filter on Snapchat... or at least that's how it begins. Apparently using any filter on snapchat can make you a thot if you aren't careful.

I personally use Snapchat as if it were my own TV show. I tell stories, jokes, rants, and on multiple occasions, I take selfies, or just put up whatever I'd like to share with all my Snap-friends that day. Now I love the dog filter, and I love almost all of the snapchat filters... I mean, why wouldn't you? They're so fun! It pains me to always see people ridiculing or demeaning (most commonly) girls or making general statements where everything a girl does makes them this presumed thot.

There are various memes out there constantly pointing out what filters make you a thot, so be on the look out. As a matter of fact, go on Facebook and search the term "thot filter," and you'll see endless posts with tags like "#youreathotif," "#thotfilter" or "#newestthotfilter."

But what else makes someone a thot? Let's look to the internet, shall we?

The next way to determine if you're a thot is by the foods you eat. They don't leave any stones un-turned, do they?

I'm not sure about you guys... but I'm pretty sure everyone has eaten at least one of these items. Welcome to thot life, apparently! These are the images that are constantly being placed online, which discourages people and also allows people to "playfully" call each other thots and continue this cycle of disrespect. It may seem harmless to certain degrees, but it just adds to the idea that it should be frowned upon for women to be sexual beings. Need more examples?

AH! Look at that. Even your height makes you a thot. Looks like even I made the cut (5'5" thot over here). Isn't it great? So if the food you eat doesn't deem you a thot, your height might!

How could the Internet possibly survive without these starter packs? They are the most common on the Word Wide Web, and usually the beginning of the ignorance floating around.

It's hilarious, though, that all of these examples have nothing to do with sex, even though sex was initially the reason for this word's existence. These memes ridicule women and demean them for merely existing, and that's why I ask you to question why this is okay. It just goes to show that there is a societal mold that women are told they need to fit in order to be recognized as decent.

There are women out there, like Amber Rose (among many others), who are embracing those words and creating events like the slut walk to put an end to things such as sexism, and to combat the idea of gender roles and many other issues that our society is struggles with.

So, in the end if eating Chipotle, having winged eyeliner, being 5'5", drinking Ciroc every now and then, and using the flower crown filter makes me a thot, so be it. I'll be a proud thot living my life and doing the things I enjoy.

Please, try to question these types of messages, and never forget that it's okay to enjoy the media. But, when negative messages are being instilled in peoples minds and continue to add on to sexist or any other harmful behavior, we must question and criticize the reasons behind them.

Next time you're called a thot, or call someone one, ask yourself "why." Why is it okay to say those things? In the end, just make sure you continue to do what you love, and remember that although words are impactful, they do not define you.
