The world was in current need of a distraction and, in typical Kardashian fashion, Kim delivered. If you've been on Facebook or Twitter at all recently, you'll know she is rehashing her husband, Kanye West's, feud with Taylor Swift by releasing video footage on Snapchat proving Taylor knew about Kanye's use of her name in his song "Famous." The Twittersphere adorned their reaction to the evidence with the hashtag, #KimExposedTaylorParty. I woke up Monday morning to article after article flooding my social media accounts with the news. Facebook's top three trending topics were all related to the video's backlash and CNN even reported on the story, tweeting about it early Monday morning.
Typically, I wouldn't have cared about something as trivial as another celebrity feud, especially one involving Kim, Kanye, or Taylor Swift, but right now, I'm peeved. Yes, our world needed a distraction, but not one as shallow as this. #KimExposedTaylorParty is just another reason for people to disagree with each other. You're either #TeamKanye or #TeamTaylor, right? I personally don't care what team you're on because I think we can all agree on one thing: this whole ordeal is, frankly, stupid.
I can't stand T Swift's underdog antics that are complete bull and I also can't stand Kim and Kanye's ever growing need for attention. Shame on Kim and Kanye for rehashing an argument that is old news and shame on Taylor and her pose for taking the bait. Shame on all of them for wasting our time so they can add fifteen more minutes to their fame. America really doesn't need another reason to be choosing sides right now, seeing as we already can't agree on issues that are actually important.
On Monday, there were so many other fantastic topics trending on Facebook and Twitter that were equally as trivial, but far more interesting than #KimExposedTaylorParty. Here are three that caught my attention:
1. Google added 100+ emojis of professional women in 11 different careers for #WorldEmojiDay.
2. Hacking group, OurMine, knocked the Pokemon GO! servers offline for the weekend.
3. Stephen Colbert crashed the Republican National Convention. If you're the type of person that enjoys a nice heated debate, I hope you stick with topics that currently matter. They include the Presidential Election, the Black Lives Matter Movement, and the unavoidable fact that terrorism is on the rise all over the world. If Kim, Kanye and Taylor really want to break the Internet, maybe they should tweet about one of these topics instead. I, for one, would be more surprised if any of them tweeted about something that had any relevant substance. For now, I'm siding with my girl, Adele on the matter #TeamTacos.
