On Sunday, May 8, we will celebrate our mothers and everything they do for us.
Mother's Day is extra special because my father passed away when I was little. It's important that I take the time to really thank my mom for all that she has done for me and my brother. Being a parent is difficult enough, let alone taking on the roles of a mother and a father. I thought what better way to show my mom how much I appreciate her than through my words (also, I'm broke, sorry Mom).
Mom:
At some point throughout grade school, middle school, or even high school, every kid is asked who their hero is. Some say police officers, some say U.S. soldiers, but more often than not, we say "my mom". Of course, as a child, you were someone I looked up to because of all the little things you did for me like brushing my hair or packing my favorite snacks in my lunch. But it wasn't until around high school that I really understood how much of a superhero you truly are.
At the risk of sounding extremely corny, I want to take this opportunity to thank you for everything you do for me, and to tell you that nothing you do goes unnoticed. From sending me "good luck" text messages when I have an exam to attending every single one of my races, your love and support never wavers. I know I can go to you with any problem I might be having, because you always know the right things to say to make me feel better. Although it may seem like it at times, the things you do for me are never taken for granted, even when it is something as small as asking how I'm doing on any given day.
My friends always tell me, "Your mom is the best!" or "I love your mom!", and they don't even know the half of it. I'm so lucky to have you in my life. No matter what goes wrong, I feel a sense of comfort knowing that you'll always be there, standing behind me, 100%. I don't know how you do it, Mom, I really don't. Constantly going above and beyond for me, you raise the bar for every other mom out there. I can only hope that one day I will be just half the mother you are for my own kids. Please never forget how appreciated you truly are.
Happy Mother's Day Mom, I love you.
