This is great news! This week alone Arctic Monkeys AND Charlie Puth’s long awaited albums released, along with the first official trailer for the Queen biopic, “Bohemian Rhapsody”. These three waits add up to a great day for me, and for all of us major music fans.

It’s been five years since Arctic Monkeys last album, “AM” that was famous for the song “Do I Wanna Know?” and it also included some other great songs to kick ball and smoke a bowl to, like “R U Mine?” and “I Wanna Be Yours”. This album made them a favorite alternative band for a lot of us, for the slow, but still kind of dance-able beats and the lead singers sultry voice. Their brand new album, “Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino”, has been anticipated for months. The band refused to release any singles before the album, so many of us were on our toes.

And now it is here. It feels like a jazz band playing in a hotel, which makes the title very fitting. Some of my favorite songs on it are “Star Treatment”, “The Worst Ever Monster Truck Front Flip” and “She Looks like Fun”. Now, this album had been built up in my head pretty high and while I do think it is great, I do still prefer their older albums.

Now, to the opposite side of the music spectrum, let’s talk about Charlie Puth. He may be kind of an asshole in real life, from what the rumors say but oh golly that voice of his. It’s so soothing and sexy all at once, his soft songs are perfect to drift off to sleep (in a good way).

His new album “Voicenotes” is his best album yet. I’m usually not a “pop” fan, I’m not a huge fan of his earlier songs, but this album. Just wow. My favorite songs on this are “The Way I Am” and “If You Leave Me Now” featuring my Philadelphia homies Boyz II Men. I’m not saying this is anything more than a 2018 pop album, it doesn’t fill me with a reminiscent feel of 80’s pop, the lyrics aren’t that deep. It’s still a pop album, but it’s still one of the best ones I’ve heard in awhile and I highly recommend it. Charlie Puth surprised me and now we’re getting married.

Now, last but not least of the amazing music news today: “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The Queen biopic film is set to release in November, but the first trailer is now out and oohhhh man I already know I will be first in line to see this film. Throughout the trailer plays several Queen hits, including a very cool mix of “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “We Will Rock You” that I would like to buy on iTunes. The beloved Freddie Mercury is played by the “Mr. Robot” star Rami Malek. His makeover is great, he’s got the hair, the mustache and those very defined cheekbones to appear just like Mercury. This film has a weird team of directors, all coming from different backgrounds, but this film has been on and off production for over 10 years.

So many highly anticipated things are releasing this week in the wonderful world of music. I don’t know about you, but I am flying through the walls excited about it.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
