What would Dory Do?

As of June 16th, we have waited thirteen years and eighteen days for Finding Dory to come out. Thirteen years since Finding Nemo played in theaters. The blue tang fish named Dory with short term memory loss won our hearts. Now we learn about her journey that led her to meet Marlin, the clownfish and then their journey after they find Nemo to bring him home.

Finding Nemo is one of my favorite movies. I was 8 years old when it came out. I am now 21 years old and went with a friend to see Finding Dory. Both movies are absolutely adorable. Plsu they also teach us somethings along the way.

This is a warning for spoilers below! If you have not seen the movie, I am talking about both movies so proceed with caution.

Finding Nemo showed us that it is doesn't matter if you were born different. Whatever it is, your differences make you special. There is no one in this whole world like you. So don't let anyone tell you that you aren't special or that you aren't good enough. Because there is only one you, so be the best YOU that you can be!

Nemo was born with a small fin. His father, Marlin is always so cautious of his son swimming for too long. He doesn't want Nemo to get to tired and overwork himself. Yet this little clownfish doesn't let his little fin get in the way of whatever he puts his mind too.

Next thing we learn is Marlin and Nemo's relationship. No love is stronger than that of a parent. Marlin travels across the whole ocean to find his son. He meets Dory along the way. They go up against sharks, jump on jellyfish and swim with sea turtles to get to Nemo.

This is also shown in Finding Dory. Dory's parents, Charlie and Jenny lose their daughter when the undertow takes her away. They try to follow after her. But they are too late, Dory was gone. So they made a home in the ocean so that if Dory tried to find them then she could. They went out and scattered trails of shells for her. They believed that their daughter would find them.

Never give up is one of the biggest lessons that both movies teach us. No one promised that life would be easy. You have to fight for what you want in life. There will be bad days and then there will be good days. The good days will be worth surviving all the bad ones. I don't think it would be called life if we didn't have to fight for it.

Dory's sings to Marlin, "Just keep Swimming." That is exactly what we have to do. We may not be fish, but that doesn't mean we can't learn from Dory too.

The blue tang fish struggles with her short term memory loss. Yet she still tries to find her parents. Dory gets lost, forgets her way and ends up almost taking a road trip. But in the end, she is reunited with her parents.

Everyone has struggles. Sometimes we have to climb mountains or swim through the undertow to get what we want. We just have to keep swimming, keep living and most importantly have fun while your at it. We only live once. And nothing should stop you from having the time of your life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
