Reflecting On The End Of My Journey at U of A

It is October and already the 8th week in the semester here in Tucson, AZ at The University of Arizona. I met with my advisor recently and talked about the Spring semester and graduation. Did I just say graduation? I cannot believe three years ago I started my journey at the U of A and now I am slowing preparing to leave the university to start my future in the real world. It is hard to believe that my advisor told me you will be part of the two graduation ceremonies which will be my college, the Social and Behavioral Sciences and the U of A class of 2019 ceremony. I can say that I have accomplished all my goals at the University by spring. The next goal I would like to accomplish is to get an entry-level job in the Public Relations field. It is hard to plan the future because we don't know our futures but it is exciting to think about because it is the beginning of a new journey and a brand new transition from college. College and my professors have taught me amazing things in their classes that I would have not known. I do think that Ph.D.'s and instructors make an impact on student's lives because they give you the freedom to explore your interests.

The advice I give to the students who are younger than me like the freshman is to study hard, never give up, and to follow your dreams because it is important to follow your dreams in college even though if you are still in the process of getting your degree. It is okay if you do not know what you want to do yet in your future. I did not know what I wanted to do career-wise until my junior year. My senior advice to freshman would be to stay strong and to enjoy your college career because four years go by fast. We all have our dream jobs and careers we want to go into but how would we get there without going through challenges and struggles in college? I think that going through challenges and struggles in college is the best way to grow. I recommend to the freshman audience to be open and to be involved as much as possible because it will help yourself and your future once you reach to senior year and to apply to jobs. The best way to get to know people at the university is to be involved and to get to know your professors! I have made tons of connections with my professors in E-Society and they are the nicest people. I had three professors I had in the past write letters of recommendation for me for Study Abroad and I will continue doing that for jobs. In conclusion, I have developed and made my own story at the University of Arizona. Now it is time for you to make your own story. How will you make a difference and positive impact at the U of A?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
