Being home from college can feel weird. You sometimes don't know if you are a temporary guest at your parent's house or if you actually live there. At this stage, it is a little bit of both.

Since you are now of legal adult status, they are no longer required to house you at any given time. They continue to do so anyway.

Knowing this, these are some things we should do in return for our parents.

Start Doing Your Own Laundry

You already have to do this while at school, so why not do it at home? While it may not be something you want to do, it should be something you are accustomed to doing.

Stop Asking For Money

Even if you did not work in high school, you should not be relying on your parents to cover many of your expenses outside of college. At this point, you are old enough to work a job that can earn you some extra money. So why not do exactly that to cover your own expenses?

Stop Being Rebellious Towards Your Parents

Most teenagers go through a rebellious phase with their parents where it's deemed "cool" to not be nice to your parents. That phase is now long gone. Your parents have sacrificed the world to raise you and get you to where you are now. You may not always agree with your parents, but there is no need to be a constant nuisance. Be nice and treat them like they are your friends.

Start Working a Job

This connects with not asking for money. Not only will this help you with establishing your own funds, but also making your household more bearable to live in. If you are home 24/7, your parents might get tired of your company as you probably would with your parents.

Start Helping Out Around The House

Any little chore could make their day.

Start Cutting Your Lawn

Cutting your lawn not only puts a smile on your dad's face but also can be a whole lot of fun with the right music.

Enjoy Your Time Home

Try not to bring stress back to your home. Keep a smile on your face even when you are irritated with your family. Try to have some fun while you are home. After all, you're only there for a couple months.
