8 Things You Could Only Ever Relate To If You Have A Step-Sister

In This Article:

Having a step sister can be one of the most incredible blessings in life, especially when you don't have a blood related sister of your own. She is always there for you when you need her the most and you seem to endlessly go to her for guidance and constant reassurance. You didn't have a playmate growing up as a child, but God had a plan all along when choosing your personal go-to, built in, bestie. Here are the eight things you only seem to understand if you have been blessed with a step sister of your own.

When someone tries to tell you that you're not really "sisters"

Like, are you kidding me? Just because we don't share the same parents doesn't mean that our relationship is any less real or sentimental. We do everything together. From beach days to doing homework, and even bickering over who is doing which chores for the day. The bond that step-sisters have is the same bond that any two regular sisters have. We are over hearing that our relationship is any different!

When it's 1 A.M. and you're fully invested in a super deep conversation

You click the home button on your phone and realize that you two have been deep in late-night conversation for just about two hours now. It's something about the cozy atmosphere that makes us share old stories and explain reasons why we are the way we are. This is the time we truly bond and become even closer in our relationship. Blood sisters have experienced everything together, yet step-sisters have to really dive in and go through old stories for the other to thoroughly understand their childhood and past memories.

When she tries on every piece of clothing she just bought to make sure you approve

Clothing purchases are never complete until you get your step-sister's full approval. She somehow always seems to know your taste better than you do, and will easily talk you out of anything too trendy or an article of clothing that, deep down, you know you'll never wear.

You get to the point where you refuse to shop unless she's right there by your side. There's not much that you feel like you can really accomplish without your partner in crime.

When people think you're blood related and claim you look alike

One of the best feelings in the world is when you two are out together and a complete stranger tells you that you look identical. As you both smile and nicely reply "Oh, thank you!", you walk away with the giggles because your inner child just loves pretending that you're actually related.

When you stole something from her closet and realize you forgot to put it back

We have all been there. Your sister is out for the day and you want to wear that super cute tube top that she NEVER lets you borrow. The plan was absolutely flawless until you realized that she's on her way back home and the top is not returned to that specific spot in her closet.

When you try to remember what life was like before her

It's almost impossible to try and figure out what your life used to look like before they came into it. You go to them for every single piece of advice and are unsure of how you even survived in a world without them. There comes a point when you really are unable to remember a time before they were your very best friend.

When you need to vent to her but she's at her other parent's house

The absolute worst situations always happen when your step-sister is at her other parent's house for the night. The first thing that you do when an issue comes up is run to your phone and immediately start venting to her. Next, you ask for her honest opinion. You always know that her help and guidance will lead you to a solid solution and ease your nerves completely.

When you realize how much she really means to you

The two of you may bicker and may not always see eye-to-eye, but at the end of the day, you know that life is so much better with her than without. She's the best person to turn to in a time of need and will always understand every single side of you. She loves you endlessly for exactly who you are and couldn't be any more thankful for your special bond.
