Every concert is a different experience. Some magical, others just loud and sweaty, but almost as enjoyable. No matter the band or venue, though, every concert has a few things in common, some things that you can count on to happen every single time. Don't believe me? Fact checks this list at your next concert.
1. Lame opener to the opener
Obviously the headliner is amazing. Sometimes the opening band is also great, or a least not bad. The thing you can almost always count on though, is that in the event there is an opening band to the opening band-they will most likely be horrible, at least in comparison to everyone else blessing your ears that night.
2. The obvious groupies
I'm talking back stage passes, attire strictly of band shirts and memorabilia, and handwritten signs professing their love for the band. Heck, maybe you're even one of these people, but that only proves my point further that this type of person will be in attendance.
3. The non-fans
If you look around carefully enough you will see the select few attendees that aren't fans, and were clearly dragged to the event. Example: Dads at a One Direction concert. You can identify a non fan through their stance, possibly arms crossed looking straight ahead, not singing or dancing. They may be uncomfortable, but for every non fan is the super fan that drug them their probably having the time of their life.
4. Bad dance moves
There's this thing that happens when an individual is absorbed in their favorite music, a hypnosis almost. Everything in the world fades away and it's just you and the song. This effect happens to a majority of concert goers at one time or another so when it's not happening to you, look around at everyone in their own little bubble dancing like no body's watching-even though they totally are.
5. Awesome dance moves
The other half of the crowd, in a trance or not, knows every word to every song, and is singing it at the top of their lungs from the opening song to the encore. And what goes hand in hand with the singing marathon? Dancing-to the beat, under the direction of the band, arm raised bopping along precisely just like they do during every car ride.
6. Someone crying
Every true fangirl has had an emotional experience at a concert that has brought them to tears. So yet another thing you can count on is that every concert you attend will have a floor covered in the tears shed by the over emotional fan girls.
7. Here for the boozers
Some people love any excuse to get their drink on. You'll see them proudly wearing their neon wristbands $12 Bud Light in hand.
8. People that don't belong
Every band/singer/genre has a stereotypical fan type. For instance the average country music concert attendee may typically sport a flannel, cutoffs, and cowboy boots. But there's always going to be that one dude rocking all black with skinny jeans and a nose piercing who although may not look like he belongs, actually considers country his guilty pleasure-and therefore belongs wherever his musical love takes him.
9. Overpriced everything
From hot dogs, to beer, to glow sticks-every single thing on sale at a concert is almost always 150% overpriced. And you know why? Because they can-simple as that.
10. Rule breakers
The sign says no outside food or drink-moms will still try to smuggle in snacks. The sign says no alcohol allowed-tampon flasks will be used. No signs/posters-they will be folded up as tightly as possible and stuffed into someones pants and under their shirts. Basically for every rule, there will be a group of people that won't stop until they break it. #rebels
11. A musical experience
Your favorite song. Maybe it speaks to your heart, or is just the catchiest thing you have ever heard, either way hearing it live from the voices that created it will mesmerize you to the core.
I hope at your next concert you see it all. The good dancing, the bad, the fan girls, and the non-fans, the sweaty crowds and the loud (awful) singing-everything that makes a concert one of the best musical experiences a person can have.
