Things We Miss About College During The Summer
Skylar Ray

It's crazy how just a month ago I was wanting to come home so badly. I missed my family, friends from home and was so tired of all the stress that college brings along. Here I am, a month later, and I am missing everything about college life.

1. My college friends and being with them whenever I wanted.

I never thought I'd become so close with people in such a short amount of time. There is something about starting a new chapter that brings you so close to the people going through the same thing as you are. I miss the friends I made, being able to hang out with them whenever I wanted and never having a boring night.

2. The freedom.

Yes, we miss our families while we're at school. We miss them constantly, but love being independent while we are at school more than we thought. The sense of freedom that college brought to me is one of the greatest things. I found myself, got to make my own choices and learned from all of my mistakes. Not being able to do what I want when I want isn't the greatest.

3. Being able to walk everywhere.

Even though I complained about it then, I miss being able to walk places. Traffic and being far away from anything is not fun. I miss living five minutes from all of my friends and not wasting gas to get places around town.

4. Football season.

There is nothing better than a college game day. Football season means fun tailgates, great friends and the best memories. There is so much pride that fills the town on game day and nothing beats being surrounded by the people that love your school just as much as you do.

5. Nights out.

There just isn't anything to do at home when you compare it to all the options you have while you're at school. I miss taking on the night with my best friends, going from place to place and having so much fun every single night.

6. Late night food runs.

In college, eating dinner at midnight is completely normal. At home, everything closes at 10p.m. so good luck finding anywhere to eat.

7. Free things on campus.

Free food, free t-shirts, free movies.. college gives you so many free things. I mean they should considering you pay them so much, but it's still the thought that counts.

8. Living with people your own age.

Being able to borrow clothes whenever you want, have late night talks with people going through the same things as you and always having someone to go out with was one of the greatest things about college. I can't wait to be back, living with some of my favorite people and always having a good time.

There are many more things I could say I miss about the place I made my home in such a short amount of time. All I know is that I am counting down the days until I am back in one of my favorite places with some of my favorite people.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
