1. Freedom and independence from your parents
When I'm home, my parents constantly hound me to help out with household chores more. Being away means having no responsibilities to tend to, which is extremely liberating.
2. Not having to cook your own meals
It only took me a few days of being home to realize that I'm not the best chef. I immediately started to miss the days of being able to waltz into the dining hall and grab whatever I wanted in a matter of minutes.
3. Having constant sleepovers with your best friends every night
There's always someone to hang out with and watch a movie when you live all together with a bunch of girls. It's quite a change of scenery from my house, where my parents go to bed at approximately 10 pm.
4. Constantly having things to do.
When I'm not in class, I'm eating meals with friends, going to club meetings and hanging out with my roommates back in the dorm. There's rarely a time where I'm looking for something to do. This is very different from being home, where I find myself having a lot of down time.
5. Having all of your roommates' closets at your disposal.
Living with eight other girls means having nine wardrobes in total to choose from! Opposed to when I'm home, where my sister is five inches shorter than me and all her dresses look like t-shirts when I try them on.
6. Going to parties, socials, mixers... etc.
The nightlife at home is fun at first, but can get repetitive pretty quickly. It's also not the same as going out with your college friends who you miss a ton.
7. Being in a place where you're surrounded with countless people your own age.
There's no other place to go where you're constantly running into peers from your dorm, classes, and other activities. What's better than that?!
8. Having the advice and opinions of my friends at my disposal.
Not going to lie, it was pretty difficult picking out an outfit to wear to Christmas mass without the eight opinions of my roommates to help me out with the decision.

My parents don't really think that it's socially acceptable to order a pizza at 2 am. But I can do this at school and not a single person will question it.
10. Coming home to a room full of friends.
One of the best feelings is coming back to the dorm after a difficult test or a long day, just to see a bunch of your roommates hanging out together in the common room. It's the fastest pick-me-up there is.
